Sandra Banack, Ph.D.
Sandra Banack received her Ph.D. degree in Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley in 1996. She received a Masters of Science and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Brigham Young University in 1987 and 1985 respectively. She has been a professor at California State University Fullerton Department of Biological Science beginning in 1997 and during this time received faculty recognition for Outstanding Scholarship (2004, 2007), Outstanding Teaching (2005), and Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning (2002). In addition, she was honored with the 2006 College of Natural Science and Mathematics Dean’s Research Award.
Dr. Banack has held positions as the Senior Scientist for the Institute of Ethnomedicine since 2004, a Research Associate for the National Tropical Botanical Garden from 2002-2004, and a Research Fellow with Umeå University, Sweden in 1996. She also served in the Department of Botany as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Brigham Young University from 1994 to 1997.
During Sandra’s years as a student she was honored with the following awards: University of Berkeley Graduate Student Fellowship, Berkeley Joseph Maillard Fellowship, Brigham Young University 4 yr Academic Scholarship, Jennie Clyde Scholarship, Marigold N Saunders Scholarship, Presidential Scholarship, Society for Economic Botany Julia F. Morton Award, University of Berkeley Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Award, and the Lubee Foundation Bacardi Student Award.
